Questions people ask

What does "make a PDF searchable" mean?

A scanned PDF is only a picture, so Ctrl+F finds nothing. This tool reads the text with OCR and adds it as an invisible layer behind the picture. The page looks the same, but you can now search it, select text and copy it.

Is the added text layer accurate?

It is the real recognised text, placed word by word where the words are on the page. Nothing is approximated or filled in; if a word could not be read it is left out rather than guessed.

Which languages are supported?

English, French, Spanish, German and Arabic.

Is my scanned document uploaded?

No. OCR runs inside your browser; the file never leaves your device.

Is it free?

Yes. Every tool on PDFSnacker is free to use, with no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
