How do I convert a Word document to PDF?

Is the text in the PDF selectable?

Not yet. The current converter renders each page as a high-resolution picture of the document, which keeps the look faithful but means the text cannot be selected or searched. A text-preserving converter is in the works.

Which formats are supported?

.docx files, the format Word has used since 2007. Older .doc files must be saved as .docx first.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole tool runs inside your browser. Your file is read from your device, processed there and never sent to a server, which is also why it works with the network switched off once the page has loaded.
